Watch: Reaching the Light Together

One Mind’s 19-minute documentary Reaching the Light Together follows Krystal and Mizkat as they describe living with major depressive disorder. Their accounts move through childhood trauma, struggles at college, diagnosis and the relationships and care that helped them find a way forward.
The film keeps lived experience at its centre rather than reducing depression to a list of symptoms. Krystal and Mizkat show how the same diagnosis can sit inside very different lives, while psychiatrist Dr Gregory Mattingly provides clinical context without displacing their voices.
Content note: the film discusses depression and childhood trauma. One Mind states that it was made possible by funding from Otsuka and produced with High Lantern Group and Alpheus Media.
